Atlas Sound’s (Booth C10608)
model DSP8807 digital sound
masking/paging system is a self-
contained, digital signal processor
with integral amplification designed to
efficiently route and mix masking, pag-
ing, and background music sources.
Applications include speech privacy and
general paging for office spaces, health
care campuses and secure govern-
ment facilities. An intuitive graphical user
interface (GUI) is easily managed via a
local Windows-compatible computer for
setup and control of all eight inputs and
outputs of the system through USB or
Ethernet ports. Dual masking source is
completely random and non-repeating
(up to 215) hours with EQ adjustments
programmable per output zone. Eight
class-D amplifiers rated at 50W/channel
(@ 70.7V) and a built-in telephony inter-
face simplifies paging setup.
Ideally suited for use with digital sig-
nage systems, Intelix’s (Booth C7329)
DIGI-HD-1X4 HDMI distribution ampli-
fier is a single-input, four-output device
that utilizes twisted pair to extend HDMI
signals into four or more zones. Capa-
ble of supporting cabling distances of
up to 300 feet when used with compat-
ible Intelix twisted pair receivers such
as the DIGI-HD-UHR2-R, DIGI-HD-IR2-
R, DIGI-HD-XR, and IR3 Series compo-
nents, the DIGI-HD-1X4 uses a single
CAT-5e or CAT-6 cable when distribut-
ing HDMI audio and video over twisted
pair cabling. Conversely, when distrib-
uting HDMI audio, video, and IR over
twisted pair, the DIGI-HD-1X4 needs a
pair of either CAT-5e or CAT-6 cables.
When used in conjunction with
IR2 and IR3 Series Intelix receivers,
the DIGI-HD-1X4 enables an infrared
remote signal to be transmitted back
to the source, thereby allowing the
OEM remote for the source device to
control it from any display location.

DAY ONE EDITION • JUNE 9-15, 2012
“pico” category–-and in fact most
pico projectors are DLP). Last year
there wasn’t really anything beyond
2,500 lumens in lamp-free projectors
for front projection. But this InfoComm
there is a new crop of projectors that
are pushing the limits upward.
And solid-state projection is not
just for data projectors. According to
Pacific Media Associates, the main-
stream projector market for WXGA
models is forecasted to grow by 35
percent over the next two years. To
meet this demand Casio America,
Inc. is expanding its lineup with two
new WXGA Pro Series DLP projec-
tors; the XJ-H2600 and XJ-H2650.
The new Pro projectors, featuring
Casio’s Laser and LED Hybrid Light
Source and a 3,500 lumen output, will
be exhibited at Casio’s booth (C5020)
at InfoComm. Casio’s Laser and LED
Hybrid Light Source combines blue
laser light and a fluorescent element
to generate a high output of green
light—traditionally the hardest color
to bump up in a lamp-free configura-
tion. The bottom line: a solid-state
unit that lowers a projector’s total cost
of ownership and maximizes invest-
ment. (Note: Casio’s 10,000-hour
warranty on the light source—that
speaks for itself, about lamp-free vs.
conventional lamp projectors.)
Optoma will be showing at Info-
Comm 2012 (Booth C5621) its all-
new EcoBright line of lamp-free, virtu-
ally maintenance-free DLP projectors,
that also use a hybrid engine, with two
LEDs and one laser. The EcoBright
ZW210ST (WXGA resolution) and
EcoBright ZX210ST (XGA resolution)
embrace the new Solid State Illumi-
nation (SSI) technology that deliv-
ers increased life while eliminating
the need for expensive replacement
parts and service, while reducing
power consumption and waste. Both
new Optoma short-throw projectors
deliver 2,000 lumens of brightness
with a contrast ratio of 80,000:1. LED/
laser systems display a wider color
palette, and project images with vivid
colors that often seem brighter than
the specifications.With Optoma’s SSI
technology, users will experience no
light degradation over the lifespan, so
colors remain constant over the entire
life of the projector.
BenQ will show its new mercury-
free blue core light engine DLP pro-
jectors at InfoComm (Booth C6026):
the LX60ST and LW61ST. Designed
to offer color accuracy with an ultra-
high 80,000:1 contrast ratio, the blue
core light engine utilizes a laser
light source rather than a tradition-
al mercury lamp. The result is up
to 20,000 hours of reliable bright-
ness, complete elimination of lamp
replacement costs, and a 90-percent
reduction in light source power con-
sumption. In addition, BenQ’s blue
core light engine-driven SmartEco
Advanced technology optimizes the
units’ light source systems to deliver
good brightness, longer life, and
high-energy efficiency. The units fea-
ture instant on/off to save time on
warm up and cool down, in addition
to manual brightness level adjust-
ment to accommodate different
classroom environments.
There will be more solid-state pro-
jectors at InfoComm, and beyond,
this year, as the engineers at DLP
and DLP’s OEM partners continue
to push the limits with both LED and
laser-based products. To learn more
about DLP solid-state projectors and
what is being shown this year at Info-
Comm, visit the DLP booth at C6019.
We’ll be reporting on all the latest
developments in the InfoComm Show
Daily and all the NewBay magazines.

Platinum Tools (Booth C5038)
is launching the new VDV
MapMaster 2.0 voice, data,
and video tester.
“The VDV MapMaster 2.0
now combines cable length
measurement with continu-
ity testing, mapping, and tone
generator functions into a single
unit,” explains Lee Sachs, Plati-
num Tools, Inc. president and gen-
eral manager. “Made in the USA,
the VDV MapMaster is capable
of identifying and mapping 19
locations at one time. Wheth-
er the job is commercial or
residential, the versatility and
added features of the VDV
MapMaster 2.0 makes it an
installer’s best friend.”
